Guide to Surviving Suicide.
Guides to surviving a suicidal stage
in your life are almost available on every teen website
but what
about surviving a close friend or family member committing suicide?
Has anyone ever really covered that?
No
they haven't. No one sees the need for it, but really there
is.
Here are some steps to help you survive a friend or family member
after committing suicide, or maybe simply a death that happened naturally
or by another cause that wasn't suicide.
Remember.
Some simple ways to help forget the death, but not forget the person
is to relive good times you've had with the person in your memory.
This method helps quite a bit but doesn't give you all the help you
may need.
Avoid
Try and avoid things they may remind you of the person who has died
straight after the death. Give it about a month, unless it's school
you can't really help that. Once you feel that you're up to being
reminded of the person in whatever way then you know that you're ready
to face reality with being reminded of them.
School
If by chance you are getting hassled about that person's death do
as much as you can to ignore it, and be sure to report it. Not so
much to your teachers, try something a little higher such as a level
co-ordinator, vice principal, or principal.
Try not to let what other people think about the death get to you.
The person obviously means a lot to you if you're upset. They obviously
didn't think much of the person if they're willing to disrespect the dead.
Talk
No matter what your problem is, you need to talk to people. You need
to let everyone around you know how it's affecting you so they can
understand. They need to know because you're obviously in a fragile
state! Let them know so they don't pile you down with more problems
to deal with!
Have fun
No matter who the person was, don't forget to have fun. They're intention
was not to make you have no life! Don't forget to have fun
it's
really important to have fun.
Never Forget
When you're older and remember back to these moments never forget
how you felt. Your kids, or a friend may be going through this and
if you can understand them you can help them. Everyone needs help
for something, so it really does help if you can remember that you've
been through it.
